A day delivered by award winning product designer Daniel Sheridan (MDes). School assembly + two 2 hour classroom based workshops.
The day begins with a unique, interactive full school assembly entitled ‘Pupils meet a product designer’. Daniel’s first-hand story
of designing and developing an electricity generating see-saw for African schools can inspire school pupils of all ages.
The assembly tells a story, showing pictures from Africa, using volunteers for a renewable electricity generation demonstration
and offers pupils the opportunity to ask questions.
Each classroom workshop (one morning and one afternoon) allows pupils the opportunity to work as product designers developing green
ideas for their own school. This combines group work, a question & answer session to promote understanding of types of renewable
energy and sustainable lifestyle and invidividual supported design work. The workshops conclude with a number of pupils encouraged to
present their idea to the class. |
